Differences Between Human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence

Differences Between Human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence

Although human intelligence and artificial intelligence created by humans seem to be fundamentally different concepts, they are actually quite similar.

Artificial intelligence is perhaps one of the concepts we hear most often these days. Although no one understands exactly what is going on, everyone has more or less an idea about the innovations it will bring to our lives. According to some, artificial intelligence, which will make our lives easier in ways that cannot be imagined, is nothing more than a project put forward to take our jobs from us, according to some. Let someone stir things up on this issue, let's discuss how artificial intelligence will bring innovations.

What Is Intelligence and How Is It Defined?

According to the Turkish Language Association, intelligence is a name given to all of human's ability to think, reason, perceive objective facts, judge and draw conclusions. As it can be understood from the definition, TDK describes the concept of intelligence as if it were only a human trait. However, intelligence is not something that only humans have. I think we all know that animals have intelligence too. Therefore, it is useful not to approach the concept of intelligence as if it were a monopoly of any species.

Intelligence can be expressed as the ability to perform a task, to define it very briefly. At this point, the point to be considered is the relationship between intelligence and the expected work. This is exactly where the concept of artificial intelligence comes into play. The ability to do a certain job is called artificial intelligence when the entity performing this job is not a human.

There Are Countless Amounts of Intelligent Beings on Earth

American author Kevin Kelly talks about different intelligences in his book The Inevitable: Understanding the 12 Technological Forces That Will Shape Our Future. Expressing that humans are the most intelligent beings to make sense of emotions, Kelly thinks we should leave the field to computers when it comes to mathematical calculations. From this point of view, we can predict that there are countless intelligent beings on earth.

In his book, Kelly also mentions that some jobs will only be performed by artificial intelligence. Some mathematical theorems can only be put forward on a computer screen. If computers were not in our lives, the problems that even the smartest of us would not be able to understand, let alone solve, would be child's play for artificial intelligence. In fact, this situation has already divided mathematicians into two.

Debating whether theories that cannot be verified by a human can really be accepted as a theory, scientists are starting to question their own existence with artificial intelligence. Perhaps the most powerful example of this is software that drives our cars for us using artificial intelligence.

The Most Common Example of Artificial Intelligence Driverless Car

Although the auto-pilot technology developed by the American automaker Tesla has not yet been released with all its features, it has proven that it provides a much safer driving experience than people. The technology, which has managed to reduce collisions by 40% even with its beta version, may also cause us to be banned from driving as humans, perhaps 15-20 years later.

As artificial intelligence begins to develop and become widespread, how people will react to it is a complete mystery for now. The ego of the human being, who has thought for many years that it is his own monopoly to have intelligence, seems to pass a serious test.
